Social news
According to a study by OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, more than 40 million users worldwide turn to the chatbot daily with health-related questions. As reported by Axios, citing the research document, over 40 million active users send ChatGPT healthcare-related queries every day. OpenAI notes that health questions account for more than 5% of all queries directed to the artificial intelligence. The study focused on the United States, where users send ChatGPT between 1.6 and 1.9 million health-related messages weekly. Americans actively use AI for assistance in selecting health insurance and consulting on medical payment issues. The majority of such queries come during non-business hours of clinics and hospitals. The study, conducted using the Knit platform, revealed that over the past quarter, 55% of American respondents used AI to check symptoms, 48% to decipher medical terminology and doctor's prescriptions, and 44% to explore treatment options. The research emphasizes that the U.S. healthcare system is highly complex, and citizens need additional information to make informed decisions. The study involved 1,042 adult U.S. residents. ChatGPT was created by OpenAI and gained widespread popularity after its launch in late November 2022, reaching one million users in less than a week. Billionaire Elon Musk was one of the founders of OpenAI in 2015 but later left the project.
